I realized I haven't spammed this enough, and so I'm here to remind you all to watch the premiere tonight at 8 on NBC. You won't regret it!

Dear F-list,
I know a lot of you are big readers/media enthusiasts, so I was hoping you might have some suggestions for me.
Namely, what are your favorite (or at least good) Arthurian legend retellings. Or books that use King Arthur, Camelot, etc as a springboard to do their own thing?
Suggestions from any medium are encouraged - books, graphic novels, movies, series, etc.

I have been on this Arthurian kick lately like whoa, even to the point of digging up some really old notes for a story I was writing once upon a time that was a non-traditional prequel of sorts to the traditional legends. Now I really want to do something with it. XD

Many thanks,
Ry

In other news, work today was crazy (as it was my first day back and the new computer systems had been installed in my absence!).

I finally finished watching BBC's Merlin, and I just have to say how much I enjoyed it. And now I found out it's coming to NBC this summer (June 21st at 8pm), so I'll probably watch it again!

Where to begin explaining why it's so good, though?

First off, like any good show, the characters are great. Not just because of all their wonderful British accents either! I was shocked by the great writing especially in the later season episodes. These character go deeper than face value, and the actors put a lot of care into crafting them. The inter-relations between them are superb - the chemistry between the cast is some of the best I've ever seen.

Of course, I love the Arthurian legends - they've been my favorite for probably 15+ years. And this takes liberties with them like whoa. But it's not in a bad way. Since the legends are fairly sketchy and there at tons of versions of them floating around anyway, it's always been easy for me to love new re-imaginings. Like, in this version Merlin and Arthur are about the same age, Morgana is Uther's ward, and Guinevere is is her maid. All the old favorites like Mordred, Excalibur, Lancelot, and Nimue make appearances too, adding to the fun.

Merlin is a total goof, and Arthur's a "prat." :) Is it possible to have an OT4, though? I think I may have it between Arthur, Merlin, Gwen, and Morgana.

So yes, I will continue to push this on all of you until the US premiere on June 21st. Watch it!

Oh, and on a side note, I'll post about my break, but I need to get pictures off the camera first. Wicked! Aquarium! Wedding!
