New Year's Questionnaire

☆ What did you do in 2012 that you'd never done before?
Worked a full year as a Pharmacist. Traveled abroad to England!
☆ Did you keep your new years resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
Hmm...not very well. I lost about twenty pounds before going to England, but after my birthday/the holidays, I gained ten of those back! And I wrote up through about May, then just kind of fizzled out.
☆ Did anyone close to you give birth?
Yes! Two of my dearest friends gave birth to boys!
☆ Did anyone close to you die?
Unfortunately, yes. One of my pharmacy mentors (who wrote a letter of rec for me to get into pharmacy school), and a dear friend who I used to sing with in the church choir. Also, I lost my beloved dog Carrie (my pet for 16 years!) :(
☆ What countries did you visit?
England and Wales!
☆ What would you like to have in 2012 that you lacked in 2011?
A digital piano. Seriously, I need to practice again.
☆ What date from 2011 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
September 3rd - the day I arrived in London.
☆ What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Corralling all the family to make a trip abroad together.
☆ What was your biggest failure?
Making friends where I live now. I really need to to better with that.
☆ Did you suffer illness or injury?
I had a nasty bout with allergies last Spring.
☆ What was the best thing you bought?
I finally got a complete MOC set of Tenko and the Guardians of the Magic!
☆ Whose behaviour merited celebration?
My Mom. She had a tough year this year.
☆ Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Some of the hospitalists at my work. Some of them are literally just dicks.
☆ Where did most of your money go?
Can I just say Matty Collector and Amazon.com?
☆ What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Why, going to the UK, of course! (And having tea at Fortnum and Mason!)
☆ What song will always remind you of 2011?
"When Will My Life Begin?" from Tangled.
☆ Compared to this time last year, are you:
i. happier or sadder?: sadder, I guess? I feel the lack of any structure in my life.
ii. thinner or fatter?: thinner by ten pounds (previously twenty XD).
iii. richer or poorer?: richer. Actually have a job and all.
☆ What do you wish you'd done more of?
Made more human connections. Write more often. Start drawing again. Get to the gym regularly.
☆ What do you wish you'd done less of?
Feel sorry for myself.
☆ How did you spend Christmas?
I worked both Christmas and New Years. It was pretty depressing, though we all brought in food and had hot apple cider at work, which was nice. Still, I want a decent amount of time around Christmas off in 2012.
☆ Did you fall in love in 2009?

☆ What was your favorite TV programme?
Nodame Cantabile, Full Metal Alchemist: Brotherhood, Camelot, Terra Nova

I may have developed a distaste for a few people at work, but nobody who I interact with regularly.
☆ What was the best book you read?
This question is practically unanswerable. However, Across the Great Barrier by Patricia Wrede, The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins, and all the great Rick Riordan books stand out.
☆ What was your greatest musical discovery?
The soundtrack to Tangled.
☆ What did you want and get?
Many, many awesome Masters of the Universe Classics figures.
☆ What did you want and not get?
I had a hard time tracking down Monster High in 2011. I still haven't found Abbey, Toralei, and part of the Skull Shores line.
☆ What was your favorite film of this year?
Oooh, this is a hard one. I loved Tangled, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Pt 2, Captain America, X-Men First Class, and Winx Club 2: Magic Adventure, though.
☆ What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
I turned twenty-six, and spent the weekend in San Jose/San Francisco with the family. We visited the awesome California Academy of Sciences.
☆ What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Same as last year: Actually accomplishing and finishing several writing projects.
☆ How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2011?
Business casual. I think I can count the number of times I put on a tie with one hand.
☆ What kept you sane?
Reading, writing, good shows/movies to watch. Talking to my family on the phone/trips to see them.
☆ Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
He-Man and She-Ra. And the cast of Monster High.
☆ What political issue stirred you the most?
Is it sad that I want to say the possibility of sales tax on Amazon?
☆ Who did you miss?
The family. Being far away from all of them turned out to be much harder than I had anticipated.
☆ Who was the best new person you met?
Some of the people from my new church. Super nice!
☆ Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2011:
You have to structure your time to make sure you have it for what is important to you.

Probably not, but if something came up that was closer to the fam...

Who knows?

Perhaps. Depends on how long I think I'll stay in Redding.
☆ What will you do different in 2012?
Perhaps get another state pharmacy license. Actually complete a fic?
☆ New Years resolution?
To continue my weight loss (I'm hoping for a total of 50 lbs by the end of the year). Hopefully to finish my Jewel Riders fic.
☆ What will you not be doing in 2012?
Hopefully buying as many toys. I'm feeling a bit of burnout in that corner.
☆ Any trips planned?
I'd like to go to NYC in the fall, but I'm planning to at least go to Sea Ranch or Yosemite this year, and possibly Anime Expo.
☆ Wedding plans?
LOL.
☆ What's on your calendar?
My birthday? It's too early to have anything set in stone for me yet.
☆ What can't you wait for?
To take two weeks off this summer!
☆ What would you like to see happen different?
See my family and friends more often. Get out more in Redding.
☆ What about yourself will you be changing?
Hopefully my weight.
☆ What happened in '11 that you didn't think would ever happen?
I finally read the Symphony of the Ages Trilogy I've owned since working at the Library.
☆ Will you be nicer to the people you care about?
Hopefully. I never try to be mean. :]
☆ Will you dress differently this year than you did in '11?
Hopefully I'll dress better. Losing more weight = new clothing racks opening up.
☆ Will you start or quit drinking?
I'll never drink.
☆ Will you better your relationship with your family?
I hope so. I've thankfully never had a bad relationship with my family, but being away from them most of the time make me feel more kindly toward everyone.

That would be nice.

Never.
☆ Will you be nice to people you don't know?
I pretty much always friendly. It's like innocent until proven guilty.

More haggard appearance? I also went back to my old hairstyle.

What does this question even mean? I don't plan on smoking pot or becoming a swinger if that's what it means.
