And Adventure to the Land of Sweets!

I must say, it was an extremely enjoyable trip. ^_^
Last Saturday (December 30th) night, a bunch of us got together and went to go see the San Francisco Ballet's Nutcracker at the beautiful War Memorial Opera House. Suffice to say, I was enchanted. It was beautiful (and very fun, too!). I stand in awe of athletes who can make such powerful movements appear so graceful.
We went in on BART during the afternoon, and were going to have dinner at Max's Opera Cafe (a fabulous restaurant near the Opera House with awesome desserts), but it was incredibly crowded (try a 40 minute wait for our 10-person party). So we ended up going to a California Pizza Kitchen across the street.
Here we are after coming up out the BART terminal to a pretty view of sunset over City Hall. Here I am with Beth and Mandi.

And here I am with my parents.

Here's a better view of City Hall. It's really beautiful at night!

The War Memorial Opera House. I love the light-up toy soldiers in the arches!

The rounded building past the Opera House is the Symphony Hall. I haven't been there yet, but I'd love to go someday!

And inside the Opera House...the beautiful entryway...

...my parents beside the awesome brass lamposts...

...and the stage. They used the screen to establish that their version was set in San Francisco (which was a nice touch). ^_^

And here I am with Uncle Drosselmeyer! >_<

Finally, Beth, Amy, and Mandi descending the escalator to catch our train home. Boo-hoo! I hope that we go again next year. It was a really fun way to spend the "New Year's Season" instead of sitting around like we normally do!
