Reminiscing with Ranma

polychrome_penWow, I had forgotten just how much I love Ranma 1/2. After finishing up the first season (probably the best one of all) I just recently bought the OAV box set. I haven't watched the OAVs in many years, but it didn't take long to get right back into them! They're the best of what Ranma has to offer (both animation and story-wise).
But I get a little sad when thinking that many anime fans of today have never, and may never see any Ranma. Golden classics like Ranma and Slayers should have to be watched by anyone saying they're an anime fan. XD So many anime these days seem to favor "flash-bang!" types of storytelling accompanied by cheap animation and forgettable characters. In these older shows, it's almost like you can see the love the creators put into every hand-painted cell and great joke. But then of course, I love old anime (but not TOO old...XD).
Also, I ordered Kimagure Orange Road today from Animeigo. They're license of the series is running out, so the DVDs are very cheap - a perfect chance to pick up a series that I have long thought to be one of the greatest anime romance/nostalgia series out there. It definitely makes you think about your own highschool days (much like Honey and Clover - a wonderful show - makes me think about my own college experience.
Also, I have started Final Fantasy X! It's such a fun game...better than I actually thought it would be, which is always a plus in my book!
