So...the squirrels have finally officially moved into our backyard. They've been hovering in the succulents (close relatives to the cactus family) for the past couple of days, and we recently discovered a little trench they dug under the fence...XD I think since Carrie's been inside more lately, they're trying to take over her territory. Poor little dog...>_<
I recently popped in a VHS of Pete's Dragon from the library (it greatly helps my absorption of random material by working in a library...XD) and was amazed by how enjoyable it really was. And I was shocked that Don Bluth (the animation genius behind such movies as Land Before Time (No1), Thumbelina, Anastasia, Titan AE) was the animation director! The relationship between Nora and Pete was especially special - their duet was especially touching. Helen Reddy is an awesome singer; I really must look into getting a CD or two of hers. I think I may have a new favorite live-action Classic Disney movie on my hands. ^_^
Speaking of musicals, I had the opportunity to see Hairspray the other night at the cinema, and I think it's the most fun I've had at the movies in a very long time. All the songs had my foot tapping along the with the beat, and all the actors were wonderful. John Travolta as Edna really had me in stitches, and Nikki Blonsky as Tracy gave a standout performance. She has a great voice, and I hope her career goes far. Michelle Pfeiffer was deliciously evil, and James Marsden demonstrated his real talent and what's possible when he actually has a good script to work with. I went out and got the soundtrack almost right after...XD But the music almost loses something without the great dance numbers that accompany it.
Oh, and apparently, I have a (false) positive skin test for tuberculosis. -_- So even though I obviously don't have TB, I now have to get a chest X-Ray every time I have to have a TB test. Goody.
Well, I'll be spending the weekend at the coast, which should be very enjoyable. I need some time away from all the annoying school forms. >_<
