NaNoWriMo: Days 5-8
Nov. 14th, 2012 11:11 pmYeah, I have up through day 13 done, but I'll save those for another post. I have fallen a day behind in my word count, so I'm not exactly sure when I'm going to make that one up (hopefully I don't fall any further behind!) Some of the luster of this project is definitely wearing off. Also, I hate the story I wrote for "Blackboard." I want to tear it down and rewrite it from scratch, but I sooo don't have the time. Conversely, the bit I wrote for "Muse" might be my favorite so far.

NaNoWriMo Days 1-4
Nov. 5th, 2012 12:28 amWhew! So I've actually been able to get the full amount of words in for the last four days (which believe me is a real shock!) And it has been so, so fun! Definitely glad I rewatched the series and took notes before starting, however. I'm having a ball (though I imagine those happy feelings will start to dissipate by the middle to end of the month). I've always worked better with goals in sight, so NaNo has been a nice motivator to finally write some Dragon Flyz fic!
Oh, and
lovelykitta, I'm totally salivating to read your DF ficcage (and have sneaked one or two of them!), but I might wait until the month is over to devour them all in order to try and avoid "cross-contamination" consider we're writing in the same fandom. It'll also be fun to see where we cross over! ^_^
So here are my results of the first four days! Total word count so far: 7,054.
Note: Dragon Flyz is the property of Gaumont and Abrams-Gentile Entertainment. I claim absolutely no ownership.
Also, these are pretty raw with very little editing. I ran spell-check at least. XD
( Four days of Dragon Flyz! )
( Day 2 )
( Day 3 )
( Day 4 )

Slightly Unexpected.
Oct. 20th, 2012 04:36 pmFull Disclosure: I blame this entirely on
lovelykitta. XD
I was not originally planning on doing anything this year for NaNoWriMo. I've always loved the idea and wanted to do something for it, but none of my projects ever aligned with November very well (not to mention for years November was a busy school month filled with the march toward finals). At the most, I was hoping to sort of feed off the writing vibes and maybe finish up Queen Kale (that I started like, three months ago) or work more on Heart Stone: A Tale of Tamara (that has been lost to writing purgatory for over a year now).
But once I was introduced to the prompt tables over at
100_prompts, ideas just started flowing. I also really love them because it allows me to write short stories to break up the 50,000 word count easily instead of staring at a monolithic number to fill with just one story. So I decided to tackle them for Dragon Flyz (since I've always wanted to write in this fandom, but have never quite gotten around to it).
I picked Table A, which is as follows:
Ideally, I'd like to match each of the prompts to a specific character, and try to get to as many of the characters on the list as possible for variety's sake. I just finished a three-day marathon through the series (and took five pages of notepad-sized notes), so it's all fresh in my mind again. I realized that there is not actually very much character development going on there, but the world is actually rather nicely developed.Off topic, but the backgrounds in that show are really lovely too.
So this is going to be crazy, but definitely fun! I'm thinking about signing up officially on the website now and maybe even attending one of the write-ins. XD
