Totally Outrageous!
May. 11th, 2007 09:59 pmSo I've only watched 3 episodes so far, but I must say Jem and her Holograms have definitely caught my attention. I'm almost surprised that the music is actually pretty good. I catch it running through my head now when I'm supposed to be studying...XD
I love how its full of images of what it meant to be successful in the 1980s. Even the words to the opening (not the original one) talk about glamour, glitter, fashion, and fame. It reminds me just how materialistic that decade was. And yet it does hold a strange sort of glamour even today. Everything was done on such a large scale - the bigger and the more expensive, the better. This seems to have pertained to everything from cars to clothes and hair (definitely hair...>3>). Some of the giant bows on their clothes in Jem really do scare me, though.
It's too bad I can't get any more episodes now. The DVDs appear to be out of print (and going for like, 3 times their original value! @_@) and don't seem to be in line for a reissue any time this century.
