Unexpected spending!
Well...I didn't intend it, but I've been rather spendy lately.
My infatuation with Winx Club put my "collection drive" into overload. And DVD number four finally came today, so I am now the proud owner of all the Winx Club Season 1 DVDs! ^_^ (I really wish they'd release Season 2 now!)
Lately, though, I've been buying up Peter-Pan related products at an alarming rate. First I bought Peter Pan in Scarlet, which segued into the purchasing of both the 2003 Peter Pan movie and Hook (both at incredibly good prices!). I'm also tremendously excited about Disney's version of Peter Pan getting a good DVD release coming up in March. Mark you calendars!
I went to Wal-Mart to see if they had any new Skysurfer Strike Force DVDs (they didn't). I mean, they're only a dollar. (One dollar! You pay more than that for a soda!) But I digress. Upon not finding said DVDs, I went browsing through the books. And yet again my total lack of self control around low-priced books rears its spendy head. I ended up walking away with not only an awesome Winx coloring/activity book, but an Ultimate X-Men coloring/activity book! (That one was totally shocking!) I haven't bought a coloring book for years, and I did feel a little self-conscious, so I used the self-check...>_< I think I might scan some pics from the coloring books to use for digital coloring practice.
Of course, just some coloring books were simply not enough. I also walked away with Peter and the Starcatchers by Dave Barry and Ridley Pearson, Amber and Iron by Margaret Weis (no matter how I try to suppress it, my inner Dragonlace fiend won't be quited!), and One Good Knight by Mercedes Lackey (apparently very loosely based on Cinderella).
So, yeah...I've just added some more books to my ever-growing queue. And I promised myself I'd not buy anything new! I'm such a sucker for good deals on things I like. Grr...:D
In other news: I'm going to see the Nutcracker in SF this New Years! We just got the tickets and now I'm getting really excited. The last theatrical performance I attended was "Dead Man Walking" - which was an awesome play, but I need a cheerier one to replace it in my brain during the holiday season.
Also, I started character files/outlining for my upcoming Flora/Brandon friendship fic (that I'll hopefully write - or at least start - during this upcoming break). I like what I've got for Flora's background so far, and I really like what I've got for Mirta's background. Brandon is proving a little more difficult to coax information out of, but we're getting there. Now I need to start going through my DVDs in search of informational tidbits that might be relevant to this story. Or maybe just watch the first season all over again...^_~
